Decrease Your Gas Expense
With the higher gas prices we're seeing, it's a good idea to buy it at the lowest cost possible without going to an out-of-the-way spot. Some sites offering gas price information are GasPriceWatch.com, GasBuddy.com, and Gas Prices on Mapquest.
A site called www.fueleconomy.gov has tips to help you increase your mileage and decrease costs. It also has links to sites that provide gas prices at various U.S. stations.
In general, though, driving in a fuel efficient manner such as not accelerating or decelerating rapidly, keeping your car maintained including proper tire pressure, and not carrying any unnecessary extra weight can result in significant savings.
To save time, gas, and money, it's also helpful to do as many errands during one trip as you can. Plan your route ahead of time so you'll go from one place to the next in a direct and efficient manner.
Make your next vehicle purchase be for one that's as fuel efficient as you feel you can afford. Take advantage of public transportation and/or carpooling. Walk or bike as much as possible.
Finally, just stay home by doing such things as telecommuting to work if allowed and using the Internet for buying/selling items.
